This is an early riser tour that takes a complete day, but it's totally worth it. 5:30 am., is when "pick ups" start at the Riviera Maya's heart: Playa del Carmen town. The chauffeur of our air-conditioned VAN, is your billingual guide, and will have a light (pastries and fruit) break fast served on route. 8:30 am. Upon arrival to Chiquilá, the group (VAN of 12) will be split into teams of 8 max. Then boarded onto safe, comfortable and registered panga boats with canopy for their Whale Shark snorkeling experience: After searching for a while, the boat captain spots the first Whale Shark. From then on, several more are found on the surface, filter feeding on plankton. The boat ride is normally smooth and seldom seasickness happens, since the ocean is usually flat. Encounter is guaranteed. The captain will allow you to plunge in the water in pairs at a time, arm's length of the whale shark. You can swim alongside, as they continue to feed on the diminute particles. After a few minutes of snorkeling, take a rest, open a soda pop, have a snack, recover your energy, your fluids... Only to jump in the water with the next whale shark and once again snorkel with it until you are tired, again and again until 13:00 pm. 13:00 pm. Visit the beautiful island of Holbox, where lunch will be provided in one of the small hotels on the beach. After lunch the guests will have the opportunity to relax on the beach or explore the island. 15:30 pm. Board the boats again for a 25 minute cruise back to the mainland at Chiquilá to board the transportation for the journey back to Playa del Carmen. 16:00
Leave Chiquila and head back to the Riviera Maya in the VAN. The cost of the tour is $220 US dollars. All inclusive day (excluding alcohol), we shall provide breakfast, lunch and soft drinks. The cost also includes the round trip transportation to Chiquila and the boat tour with snacks and beverages. |
